PictureOxford Style
Every place has a peculiarity about itself. There is something that makes it different from the rest. It does not imply that the rest are no better. Take the example of the ‘city of dreaming spires’ about which Mathew Arnold had dedicated a beautiful poem. Yes, it is Oxford that has produced these laureates that later created a reputation in the field of literature. And even though, the place is known as the birth place of many of these literary figures yet it manages to catch attention for various other reasons.

Tyne O Connell talks of one of her many visits to Oxford in the same awe-inspiring tone with which she talked about it for the first time. She claims that nothing has strangely changed in there even though technology is prevailing over there as well. From the people, their culture, their indulgence and their dressing manner, Oxford style remains intact even today.

Remember the playwright Oscar Wilde. Well, he had been a huge follower of the term ‘dandy’ that has been speculated to having been originated from this place. Now that many have countered this opinion yet this cannot be refuted that dandies were in abundance few centuries before and if not originated the influence surely was from here. If one thing is to be noticed, a cult following is always on the doorstep of this place. And if history has been scoured properly, this is one of the major places that always initiated a criterion that led to a cult following.

Even today, people are steeped into tradition, learning their history and their religion. And the style of dressing has hardly gone any altercations. When asked by the writer to comment on the way they dress, a vivid yet fascinating description somewhat came like this by one of the girls studying  who puts it this way, “Same as the young people everywhere I think. The usual, Barbour Wax jackets, cable knits, jeans and ankle boots, floating floral dresses in the summer.”
